Jimmy McConnell Big Band
Jimmy McConnell Jimmy McConnell, an 18-piece Big Band, has been performing Big Band Jazz/Dance Music from America's Classic Jazz Songbooks for over 25 years. Jimmy's Band consists of some of the greatest musicians in Southern California. The Bands repertoire draws from a book of over 200 charts and includes Big Band Jazz/Swing Classics from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Sammy Nestico, Mel Lewis-Thad Jones, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Buddy Rich, and many more! Jimmy is from Louisiana (the birthplace of Jazz) and has spent most of his adult life in Kansas City, Missouri--the City that claims some of the greatest jazz musicians that ever lived--Charlie Parker, Ben Webster, and Coleman Hawkins, to name a few.

Jimmy relocated to the San Fernando Valley in Southern California a few years ago.
As a trumpeter, Jimmy's performance and recording credits include Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Band; Jack McDuff; The Jackson Five (as musical director); Arthur Prysock, BB King; Bobby "Blue" Bland; Martha The Vandella's; Isaac Hayes; Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson; Nancy Wilson; Lou Donaldson; OC Smith; Ernie Andrews; Barbara Morrison; Gina Eckstein; The Platters; and many others. Jimmy's trumpet can be heard in Clint Eastwood's movie "Bird" along with "A Brand New Life" with Barbara Eden Don Murray, "Lame Duck" and "Harlem Knights" among several other motion pictures.
